Aluminium fluoride is white powder, density 2.882 soluble in water, acid and alkali solution, insoluble in most organic solvents ,and not soluble in hydrofluoric acid, the nature is very stable, and does not react with sulfuric acid to heart ,melt no change with potassium hydroxide, also not be oxygen reduction ,heat decomposition,but the sublimation and sublimation temperature is 1291 degrees Celsius,in 300-400 degrees Celsius can be steam hydrolysis of hydrogen fluoride and alumina.

In the aluminum production to reduce the melting point of electrolyte, improve electrical conductivity, also used in the production of alcohol fermentation inhibitors, ceramic outer glaze,enamel glaze of cosolvent, solvent of nonferrous metals, metal welding.
